What Is the Shonen Jump App?
The Shonen Jump app is a manga app by the company Viz Media and the Shonen Jump magazine out of Japan. In the U.S. they publish manga chapters of newer manga series from Japan, along with many manga series that were published by Shonen Jump in the past.
They have a wide variety of Shonen manga available to read, but you’ll need to pay $1.99 a month to access their catalog.
The Catalog Is Huge
Shonen Jump has an enormous catalog of manga to read a wide variety of Shonen manga, including popular manga like Death Note, One Piece, the Dragon Ball franchise, My Hero Academia, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
There’s plenty of manga available on the app, including some that have recently gotten anime adaptations. Even if you don’t read a lot of Shonen, you might find something you like.
There's a wide variety of Shonen manga you can read and you will find something you’re interested in.
You Can Read on Your Web Browser
I checked recently to see if I could read the manga chapters from the Shonen Jump app on my web browser instead of the iPhone app. I signed into my Shonen Jump account on Viz’s website and I was able to resume reading the manga that I had been looking at. The site resumed my reading and it was straightforward to use.
I was able to zoom in on the manga panels and read the dialogue panel. It does limit how far you can zoom into the panel, but it’s still a good amount.
The panels were easy to read and I could choose between showing one page or two. It’s excellent and a nice feature if you want to read Shonen Jump without using the iTunes or Android app or an emulator.
The App Is Easy to Use
I have installed the Shonen Jump app on my iPhone and it is easy to use; it can also be installed on some emulation software programs, but I have been using it seamlessly on the iPhone.
You scroll through the catalog and pick the manga and the chapter you want to read. You can zoom in on the dialogue boxes by tapping your screen or using your thumb and forefinger to zoom in on the picture.
You can move the picture on the screen when you’re zoomed in to look at it. These are very nice features of this app. It did take me some time to get used to tapping the screen to zoom in on the dialogue boxes.
The Subscription Price Is Inexpensive
The subscription price of $1.99 a month, and the price of one single manga volume in the U.S. is $7.99 depending on how popular the title is and if it’s being discounted or not. The retail price of a manga is $9.99 and for $1.99 a month, you can read the Shonen Jump app for four months.
You’ll save a lot of money subscribing to the Shonen Jump app if you don’t want to buy a lot of manga. It’s a way to read popular manga like Naruto, Dragon Ball, and One Piece, and save money on the “big three” of manga without paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars on many volumes.
It’s an inexpensive way to read manga and be able to enjoy a lot of it.
The price is great for what you’re paying to access.
You Can Download Manga Chapters on Your Phone
Another convenient feature of the Shonen Jump app is that you can download the manga chapters onto your phone. That’s a nice feature if you’re going somewhere and you don’t have access to the Internet, you can still read the manga that you want while on the go.
You Have a Limit on How Many Chapters You Can Read
The Shonen Jump app does have a limit of how many chapters you can read. You can read 100 chapters per day from the Shonen Jump vault. While that may seem like a lot of chapters to you—since a manga volume is usually seven chapters long—there are people that will binge-read that many chapters in a day. I usually read a volume in a day if I feel like reading manga. I’ve been reviewing manga that I read on the Shonen Jump app so the app pays for itself when I write a review for something I’ve read on the app or when I read a volume of manga.
Some readers might not like the 100-chapter limit on the app, but for most people, that’s plenty of chapters to read in a day.
The Shonen Jump App Is Great Way to Save Space and Legally Read Manga
If you have an iPhone, an Android, or an emulator that can run the Shonen Jump app, and you have a few dollars a month and you want to read manga legally, you should download and subscribe to the app, especially if there’s a title you’ve been wanting to read. The catalog is large and you’ll have plenty of manga to read.
If you like the Shonen demographic, you’ll want to subscribe to the Shonen Jump app. It’s a nice app that has a lot of manga to read; it’s very inexpensive to subscribe to and saves you hundreds of dollars in the long run. If you find a series you like, you can keep up with it every week or month, depending on how often the mangaka releases new chapters.

Huge catalogue to read
My Grade: A+
The Shonen Jump app is great, I love using it to read manga. I constantly use it as a resource to read manga for reviews. I have easily gotten my money’s worth out of it because the catalog is so large. I am rereading series for writing reviews and it’s a great resource for anyone that loves reading Shonen manga.
It’s also a great legal way to read many popular manga series without paying for hundreds of volumes of manga.
The subscription price makes reading manga very affordable for many fans. With this app, you don’t have to buy hundreds of dollars worth of manga to read a series you’re interested in. If it’s a popular Shonen series published by Viz books, it is on this app.
You can read 100 chapters per day, which is plenty for most people for only $1.99 a month, which saves you hundreds of dollars and shelf space.
I’m also using the app more to write manga reviews so I’m getting my month’s worth out of it. For $23.88 plus tax a year, this is a great investment if you want to save money and you want to legally read manga.
This app does work on Bluestacks version 5.250 so if you want the ease of reading on your PC, you can use the emulator. The website will let you read straight from your browser, which is fantastic. Whether at home or on the go, you can read manga.
You can also download chapters you want to read to take them everywhere with you.
This is a great subscription service that I highly recommend for Shonen manga fans.
It’s a great investment for me as a reviewer and if you’re a fan of manga, it’s a great way to save money and still keep up with your favorite manga. There are also many completed manga series on the app so if you want to read a completed series that they have, you can read it from start to finish.
I highly recommend the Shonen Jump manga for anyone that likes to read the Shonen Jump app and subscribe if you can afford the subscription fee. You get a large selection for a very affordable price.
