Today I am taking a close look at one of the newest and most powerful smartphones available. The Redmagic 7S Pro is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ chipset, 12 - 18GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.
As you've probably guessed, this smartphone is aimed toward the hardcore gamer. To ensure it performs at the highest level, Nubia included a pair of 520Hz capacitive touch triggers, game management software, and a sophisticated cooling system.
My new Redmagic 7S Pro Supernova smartphone was accompanied by a 65W power adapter, transparent silicone case, and a USBC-C to USB-C cable. The phone came fitted with 18GB of Ram and 512GB of storage.
This device weighs in at 8.3 ounces. It is 6.55 inches tall, 3 inches wide, and 0.39 inches thick. It boasts a glass front, glass back, and an aluminum frame.
The 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display can be set to a refresh rate of 60, 90, or 120hz and is surrounded by a remarkably thin bezel. A 16MP selfie camera sits well-hidden beneath the display.
A 64MP primary camera, 8MP wide camera, 2MP macro camera, and an LED flash are located on the back of this phone. The fan's RGB lighting shines through the glass case when its turbofan is operating.
The top edge of this phone features a 3.5mm audio output, a microphone, and a speaker. The bottom edge accommodates the sim slot, a second speaker, microphone, and USB-C port.
A pair of capacitive touch trigger pads, a power button, volume control, and the air vent are located on this device's right-hand edge. Game Mode may be activated via a slider switch on the left-hand edge.
The Redmagic 7S Pro is fitted with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. This phone's ICE 10.0 Multi-dimensional cooling system includes a fan that will automatically turn on when game playing.

The Redmagic 7S Pro is a product focused on providing a superior experience for the avid gamer. Its glass and aluminum case is attractive without appearing flashy. Due to a sophisticated cooling system, this device is slightly thicker and heavier than most smartphones.
The Game Space mode controls game notifications and tweaks performance. While many games will automatically select this mode, it can also be activated by pushing a slider on the left-hand edge of the phone.
After installing Call of Duty, I was notified that the fan would be active during gameplay. When I swiped across the screen, the Game Space menu appeared.
The heart of the Redmagic 7S Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ chipset, providing a CPU clock speed of up to 3.2GHz. This processor's performance is aided by the smartphone's generous 18GB of RAM.
While the CPU delivers 10% better performance than Qualcomm's previous generation, the chipset's 30% improvement in power efficiency is a more critical specification. It reflects a significant reduction in the heat generated by this device.
The Cooling System
When playing power-hungry games, the smartphone's CPU works extremely hard. This results in heat. If left uncontrolled, the CPU will eventually slow down, allowing the heat to subside. Unfortunately, this reaction adversely affects the efficiency of gameplay.
The phone's cooling system ensures the device maintains a moderate temperature, well below the crucial point at which overheating impacts gameplay.
A turbofan supports the ICE 10.0 Multi-dimensional Cooling System. This fan can reach speeds of 20,000rpm, providing constant airflow.
This 10-layer cooling system consists of a graphene heat storage plate, VC heat dissipation plate, air aluminum box, turbofan, high heat rare earth, conducting gel, copper coil, heat dissipation plate, air duct, protective case, and turbo cooler.
This 6.8-inch multi-touch AMOLED panel boasts a resolution of FHD+ 1080×2400. Brightness can be adjusted to a maximum of 600 nits.
Refresh rates may be set at 60, 90, or 120hz. Higher refresh rates allow smoother gaming while consuming more power.
This phone enjoys an impressive touch sampling rate of 960Hz. When paired with the 520Hz shoulder triggers, the display responds promptly and fluidly to touch.
Viewing angle, color, and detail are excellent, whether the user is playing a game or watching a movie on Netflix.
Perhaps due to impatience, I found the automatic brightness adjustment a little slow when shifting to a brighter environment.
The onboard speakers work effectively, reproducing sound well. However, I recommend that headphones or a Bluetooth speaker be connected when playing games or music.
The primary 64MP camera works exceptionally well. When photographing well-illuminated product samples within my home, the pictures were clear, detailed, and accurately colored. Photographs snapped during a walkabout of Windsor were also quite good.
I failed to test the 8MP ultrawide lens but did take a series of close-ups with the macro camera. While I found this mode awkward to use, it did achieve interesting results, providing an overall photograph that included a small but highly detailed macro portion.
This 16MP camera is hidden beneath the display, allowing an image or video to be viewed over the lens. While under-display cameras are helpful when playing a game or watching Netflix, their photographs appear faded and less detailed when compared to the output of a traditional camera.
Gamers will be impressed by the hot new Snapdragon 8+ G chipset combined with 12 – 18GB of RAM and an advanced cooling system that maintains the phone's temperature at a reasonable level. They will also appreciate the Game Space mode, a refresh rate as high as 120hz, high touch sampling rate, and the pair of handy shoulder trigger pads.
The advantages of this phone's high-end chipset, RAM, and storage space are not limited to gaming enthusiasts. This smartphone can run numerous applications simultaneously without slowing down to a crawl. And the decent-sized battery and 512GB of storage on my Supernova version ensure I can download a large selection of movies from Netflix and watch them whenever I want.
If you are looking for a gaming phone, the Redmagic 7S Prois strongly recommended.
