The Torras Automatic Car Mount Wireless Charger ($45.99) is a game changing accessory for older cars and then some.

The mount clamps down on horizontal & vertical air vents using an upgraded spiral vent clip, it has an adjustable clamp for air-tight stability, and it's compatible with any smartphone device.

It can wirelessly charge Qi devices with its built-in coils and V3 smart chip that adjusts the power supply depending on type of phone used (5W Standard, 7.5W iPhone, 10W Samsung).

The unit comes with over-current, over-heating, short-circuiting, and over-voltage protections, and the mount even has a heat dissipation vent on the back that prevents phone damage.

And yet my favorite features are less high-tech and more practical.

For one, there's an LED indicator light that tells you if your phone is charging properly, and second, there's an adjustable bottom tray that aligns the charging coils so that your phone receives a consistent charge no matter its size.

But the best feature of all is the auto-clamping, which mechanically clamps down on your device when the sensors detect your phone. And when it's time to remove your smartphone, there are two buttons on the side that will release the clamps when pressed.

I have more to say about each feature below because there's just so much to get into.

Six Amazing Features

Now it's time to get into each feature and discuss why they matter so much. I think you'll be very impressed by the end of this list.

Top 6 Features

  • Auto-Clamping
  • 10W Wireless Charging
  • Powerful Air Vent Clip
  • Safety Protections
  • Adjustable Tray & LED Light
  • Alarm

This is my first time experiencing this feature in any car mount, and it's surprisingly great.

Unlike other car mounts where you have to manually adjust the clamps, this product does it for you in a satisfying, mechanical style. It's as easy as placing your phone on the mount and letting it do the rest.

Now it's not perfect...sometimes you'll have to wiggle your phone a bit or press it against the mount until the sensors can respond, but once it recognizes your phone you're set.

The two side buttons are a nice touch too; you'll have to press one of them to release the phone. After the clamps release, you'll have 2 seconds to remove your phone otherwise the clamps will come down again. The 2-second rule is to ensure your phone doesn't fall out if the car is still moving.

10W Wireless Charging

The wireless charging works about as well as other wireless charging devices though I like how it's integrated into the mount itself.

To use the charging capabilities, you'll need to plug the Micro-USB cable from the bottom of the mount to your car charger. To take advantage of the fastest charging speeds, you'll need to use a QC 3.0 car adapter.

As I mentioned earlier, the mount contains coils and a V3 smart chip, so it'll treat all Qi devices accordingly whether it be an iPhone or a Samsung. The mount's design and built-in protections also mean your devices won't be damaged while charging.

Powerful Air Vent Clip

What good is a car mount if it can't stay attached.

Luckily you won't find that here as this mount contains a large clamp with a spiral air vent clip that permits you to adjust the tightness on the vents.

And it's really tight...

I've driven on bumpy roads, elevated roads or worse, and I haven't had a problem yet. The mount stayed put and my phone barely wobbled. The combination of the tight vent clip and auto-clamping make this the most secure car mount I've tested, and I'm thrilled with what they've accomplished.

Safety Protections

My big concern was whether or not the charging would overheat my phone due to the air vent placement.

So far I haven't had any issues, and a lot of that's due to the vast array of safety protections and product design such as the heat dissipation vents and internal safety chip. Finally it comes with a 12 month warranty in case something goes wrong, which is always good to fall back on.

The only con I do have is how it'll perform during the winter when the heat is on. Will the excess heat coming out of the vents damage the charging capabilities or even worse, my phone?

I'll be sure to let you know when the time comes.

Adjustable Tray & LED Light

My last car mount wireless charger had problems with the charging because I had no idea how to align my phone with the product's coils.

The Torras charger solved this problem too with an adjustable bottom tray that has markings for specific phone sizes. I've been able to charge a Galaxy S8 and S10+ without interruptions because of it, and I didn't have to remove the cases either.

The only phone cases not suitable with this product are wallet, battery, rugged, and uneven cases; everything else will work just fine.

Lastly there's an LED indicator that tells you whether or not your phone is charging properly. Blue is good and red means bad. If you're in the red, try adjusting the bottom tray and please make sure your mount is plugged into a QC 3.0 car adapter.

One final neat feature is the buzzer reminder.

If you stop your car's engine and forget to remove your phone, the mount will start beeping automatically, which I did not expect to happen.

This is a very small but cool feature, and I'm sure there's plenty of people that wish their car mounts could do this.

In fact I was one of them.

Tips & Tricks

There are a few additional guidelines that you should be aware of. They'll not only help you make the most of this product, but they could also save you phone from avoidable damages.

How to Mount Properly

  1. Unscrew the nut and let the ball through the nut
  2. Tighten the nut and adjust the angle to your sight
  3. Turn the screw knob to the thickness of the air vent
  4. Find a suitable place to fix the mount
  5. Tighten the screw knob to fix the vent clip
  6. Plug micro USB cable into mount and then car adapter
  7. Adjust bottom tray to align coils (up-down)
  8. Press side sensor button to release clamps and place phone inside; side clamps will automatically close down on phone and it'll begin charging

More information can be found in the user manual including images of each step.

Extra Guidelines

  • Use on horizontal & vertical vents only; will not work with rounded vents
  • For fastest charge use a QC 3.0 car adapter
  • Google Pixel phones can only charge using standard 5W
  • If LED is red adjust the bottom tray or remove phone case
  • Don't use with metal, wallet, credit card, uneven, or pop phone cases
  • Operating temperature is between 32°F and 113°F - higher or lower temps may cause product to malfunction
  • Damaged or malfunctioning products can be returned and exchanged for free

Additional guidelines are found in the user manual. Most importantly, avoid submerging or splashing the mount with any liquids as it can cause electrical overload and severe malfunctions.

If you have any product questions or concerns, email them at or visit their social media pages (@Torraspower).

Final Review

I have very few complaints about this product, and thus far it's been a pleasant experience.

I would give the Torras Automatic Car Mount Wireless Charger 4.8 out of 5 stars.

This rating may change as I've only had the product for 2 weeks, but so far so good. The mechanical, auto-clamping is great, I like the wireless charging integration, and I enjoyed many of the ancillary features like the adjustable tray, LED light, and buzzer reminder.

The air vent clamp feels plenty secure, and I have little worry about it frying or short-circuiting my devices. There remain a few question marks though...I'm uncertain of the product's longevity, I don't know how it'll perform when the heat is on, and I'm unfamiliar with the company itself.

If something new pops up then I'll be sure to update this review, however as of now, I would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone in need of a car mount.

Like I said at the beginning, it's an excellent accessory for older vehicles with plenty of cool features that hold their own against modern systems.

Yes it's a bit pricey ($45.99) but if you're looking for stability and security then a few extra dollars is worth it. The Torras Automatic Car Mount Wireless Charger has delighted me, and I think it'll delight you too.

Your Thoughts!

Your question about the winter weather is the same question I had. I also like that alarm feature. Seems very convenient, especially given how expensive phones are!
