If you were to scroll through a list of my reviews, you would notice that watches are featured in many of them. My favorite subjects were sophisticated automatics that, despite being powered by a spring that drove dozens of spinning gears, somehow managed to keep an accurate account of the passing time.
Lately, however, I've been lured toward the dark side. My first taste was a cheap Lemfo fitness watch. Although its charging system proved absurdly impractical, this timepiece was accurate and could track how far I walked each day.
Then I came across a Verizon Wear24 timepiece, which was available for an incredibly low price because it had been discontinued. This watch boasts GPS, wifi, and Bluetooth. If I had been a Verizon customer, I could have shoved a SIM chip into it and used this timepiece as a phone. Sadly, its battery life is very short.
I replaced the Wear24 with a Umidigi Ufit Smartwatch. This timepiece proved to be an excellent device with which to monitor fitness-related activities. It is equipped with a full assortment of sensors and a battery that keeps it running for over a week between recharges. I liked this timepiece. However, I did miss the more exotic features I'd enjoyed while wearing the older Verizon smartwatch.
After checking out the specifications and price of the more sophisticated smartwatches available at Amazon, I settled on Zeblaze's Thor 4 Pro.
The Zeblaze Thor 4 Pro Smartwatch weighs in at 76 grams. It is a large round watch, spanning 4.67 centimeters, and is 1.57 centimeters thick. This timepiece is fitted with a 20-millimeter-wide black hybrid strap composed of silicone and Pu leather.
An MTK6739 1.25GHz, Quad-Core processor is tucked within a flat-black alloy watch case. This watch features GPS, a Nano-SIM slot, a 600mAh battery, a camera, a mic, and a speaker. It is equipped with 1GB of Ram and 16GB of Rom.
The Thor 4 Pro boasts a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and is fitted with a 1.6-inch color LTPS Crystal Display composed of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Visible from the bottom of this device are the heart rate monitor, proximity sensor, and accelerometer.
Two control buttons and a camera lens are fitted to the right edge of this watch.
The Thor 4 Pro is wifi and Bluetooth capable and, in conjunction with the WiiWatch application, can be used with Android and iPhones.

The Thor 4 Pro's case is flat-black in color, which nicely matches the attached strap. This thick and heavy timepiece features a modern, simplistic, and conservative design. Unlike many competing smartwatches, it is fitted with a large and bright screen.
This smartwatch is equipped with a 600 mAh Polymer lithium-ion battery, which can be recharged in about 90 minutes. Operating time varies according to how the Thor 4 Pro is configured. With wifi and Bluetooth connected, I can get about 15 hours of use on a single charge. That is acceptable for this type of watch.
Display and Sound
The screen's brightness is adjustable and can be easily read even when bathed in sunlight. When I streamed a movie using the Tubi application, I was impressed by how well the watch displayed the video. Although the screen is small, the video progressed smoothly with accurate color and crisp and detailed features. The sound level over the watch's tiny speaker was low but clear. When I connected my Bluetooth earbuds, the sound quality improved considerably.
Wifi and Bluetooth
I was able to set up wifi and Bluetooth without difficulty. The range for both was excellent, rivaling the distances possible with my cellphone.
This smartwatch comes loaded with the complete version of Android 7.1.1. Using the Google Play Store, pretty much any program available can be downloaded and installed. Of course, due to this watch's physical size, many of these programs fail to work well.
It is relatively easy to operate the Thor 4 Pro by swiping across its watch face or pressing one of the device's pushbuttons.
The wrist flip option works, but there is an irritating two-second delay. The same hesitation exists when I tap the button that illuminates the screen.
Calls and Messages
This smartwatch is fitted with a speaker, a microphone, and a slot capable of accommodating a Nano-SIM.
Several watch faces are available for use with the Thor 4 Pro, and others can be selected and downloaded. My favorite of these features a traditional analog watch face, the date, outside temperature, heart rate, and an indication of the watch battery's charge level.
The Zeblaze Thor 4 Pro may be set to several different sport modes. These include walking, running, biking, basketball, football, and ping-pong. It counts your steps and estimates both distance and calories burned. This watch can check the rate of your heartbeat.
The WiiWatch 2 program works very well. It provides plenty of information and can be used to adjust many of the watch's features. Sadly, this application cannot be utilized in conjunction with Google Fit or Strava.
This smartwatch features a 5.0MP camera that is quite capable when plenty of light is available. While I found it difficult to aim, this issue should dissipate as I gain experience.
I like this watch, although it might be a little large for some potential purchasers. It has decent fitness features, wifi, Bluetooth, a camera, and can be utilized as a phone.
This smartwatch may even be used to watch a movie. You can more practically use it to stream music or download songs, listening to them by connecting a Bluetooth capable set of earbuds. The Zeblaze Thor 4 Pro Smartwatch is recommended.
