The Chord Buddy as seen on Shark Tank is an amazing step-by-step guitar learning device. It, along with the training system, teaches you how to play the guitar step-by-step over the course of two months.
That is it.
Does it really work?
Yes it does. In two months you will be playing the guitar like a pro without it. Think of the Chord Buddy as training wheels for the guitar. As you get the hand placement and the rhythm down, you will start removing pieces of it.
At the end of two months, you will have removed all four pieces and you'll be able to play virtually any song you want.
This is a great training tool and it will save you so much money in the long run since you either won't need lessons or will need fewer of them.
The Chord Buddy makes it easy to learn guitar chords. It is a great tool to use to learn the basics.
It is a simple device that fits on any guitar and allows you to play right away. Once you are playing, you will learn the basic chords for playing almost any song. Anyone can use it. I love it.
The first time I learned about it was on the hit television show Shark Tank. The creator came on the show and promised that people can learn guitar instantly with it. He was right.
There are four buttons that you press to make four of the most commonly-used chords. Once you learn those, you will be able to play many popular songs. This training system allows you to learn a new chord every two weeks and teaches you by removing a button and showing you where to put your hands.
Watch John Rich Use Chord Buddy to Play "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy"
The creator Travis Perry went in front of five sharks and struck a deal with Robert Herjavec on the show Shark Tank. They were able to sign a deal with John Rich from Big n Rich.
If you know anything about Shark Tank, you know that it is hard to get a deal from the sharks. This is an amazing product and should prove that if they invested in it then it must be a good thing.
The Chord Buddy will teach you four basic chords, the C,D,G, and E minor. This will help you learn many popular songs since these are very common.
It teaches you a new chord every two weeks. After eight weeks you will have mastered those four basics.
The average guitar lesson will run about $15 for 30 minutes. Does that seem like a lot? If the answer is yes then the Chord Buddy could be a good option for you.
For the cost of three lessons, you can have your own guitar training device that will teach you. It also comes with a guide on how to play over 100 songs. Pretty cool huh?
Yes, the chord buddy does actually work. It will teach you the basics of the guitar. You will not be an expert in two months but you will be able to play the four primary chords used in many of today's songs.
This is a huge deal for many people including myself and is really a great stepping stone in playing guitar. As you play you will learn more and more techniques to help you along the way. Just have fun and do not give up.
Although the Chord Buddy was designed for the acoustic guitar, it will also work with your electric guitar as well.

How Are You Planning to Learn Guitar?
David Cazalet on September 04, 2020:
Agree with Howard and Michael. Chord Buddy is poorly manufactured. First and Second ones I got both had button arms catching on others. In the second one they had fixed the defect from the first but introduced a different defect. Almost impossible to square up and keep it that way, button arms way to flimsy and move laterally. Sent both back. Pity, it seemed like a good idea but unless boot centres touch the right strings, the purpose is defeated.

howard baker on May 31, 2020:
so disapointed its a great idea but the product is rubbish put first one in bin sent for another just the same it needs to be supported on both ends its impossibe not to string buss once you have played a chord spent hours looking at the trouble shooting site but im affraid this design does not work a dissapointed customer
michael payne on May 19, 2020:
chord buddy is a great idea but I think it was rushed and needed more development. the Whole thing is just to flimsy, especially the button chord fingers. the main body that clamps to the neck of guitar is a bad design. you can sit the ribs on the neck of guitar at the right angel and tighten the nut up, but after playing a couple of chords the angel drops down causing other chord fingers to foul strings you did not want to play. Also the chord fingers move side ways in the main body again causing fouling of other chords. so over all disappointing and self defeating as I could of been so much better with a bit more development and very little cost

Does Chord Buddy work on a ukulele?
MrsS on February 07, 2015:
I have a nerve problem in my left hand which causes numbness and pain; therefore, I cannot use my fingers on the strings. The Chordbuddy is very helpful for those who have physical hand issues. All I want to do is enjoy playing my guitar at home and don't expect to become an expert. the Chordbuddy has given me back the joy of playing for my own enjoyment.
Phss on January 21, 2015:
I saw them on amazon, and they don't have them for left handed guitars or children's guitars
Please note: Chordbuddy will NOT work on Classical, 1/2 . 1/3 or left handed Guitars
gil on December 27, 2014:

Because of a proplem with a stiff 1st finger on my left hand I have a left handed guitar. Will this chord buddy work on my left hand guitar
Mrobertson on November 23, 2014:
I don't expect the chord buddy to make me a great guitar player, just advance what little skills I have , invite me to play more and create more enjoyment by playing.
Sean on October 20, 2014:
Can I use this on my Left hand guitar?
rick grubb (author) on October 23, 2013:
@John Dyhouse: The thing about the chord buddy that is unique is that you can teach yourself quickly. yes you will need to build up your finger pad but you will need to do that anyway without the chord buddy. The main purpose of it is to teach you hand placement, sound, and rythmn first. Then after you have mastered that you can move on to learning more on the topic you are discussing.
John Dyhouse from UK on October 23, 2013:
Playing like a pro? Sorry, but learning which colour button to press does not a guitar player make. If a learner removed the bits after two months and thought he/she could play, they would still have fingers which would need a hard pad to be developed. Watching those vids does not convince me at all.knowing how to press a string is not learnt by pressing a button in my humble opinion
sakura0822 on October 19, 2013:
Just by watching the videos, I feel really amazed to this product. Actually I'm a beginner and I take online guitar lessons at this site bestguitarcourseonline.net, and they actually have great lessons. I am looking forward to buy one of this Chord Buddy to backup my online lessons.
