How to Fix PSD-Locked Message on Your Mailer Meter Postage Machine


If you process company mail or just mail a heck of a lot of mail at home, you may eventually get a PSD-Locked message on your mailer meter postage machine.

I must start out by saying that always run postage machine issues by the company that handles the service contract or agreement.  I'm not a postage meter machine service company. I only know this because I used to have one and this is what they would have me do.

I also have to confess that my fix for the PSD-Locked message might not be the exact instructions for you.  It depends on the specific equipment you are using.  That said, read my solution to PSD Locked anyway.  It should be close enough to get you up and running.

Some Background

The PSD Locked message typically happens when you have not downloaded postage for a certain period of time. Once this time has lapsed, your mailer machine and the postal server have to get comfortably acquainted again :-)  This is called a postal audit.  It is a routine procedure where your postage mailer machine and postal server verify each other.

Step 1

Press the "Coins" button. This is the button with the picture of the coins near it. Maybe it will have another currency designation (such as a dollar :-) in the future, but on mine, it is coins.

Step 2

Then select the "Postal Audit" option.  For my equipment it is option # 3

Step 3

The mailer will then connect to the post office server and verify itself. You won't have to do anything during this time.

Step 4

Once the verification is complete, you should be able to download your postage.

I have asked professional postage machine service people what do to if this does not work. They said, if this doesn't correct the PSD Locked, then you likely have a line connection issue that needs to be corrected by your phone company or internal IT team.
