How To Automatically Sync Your Facebook Events With iCal on Your Mac, iCloud for Your iPhone, and Google Calendar

How to Sync Your Facebook Events Calendar with Your Apple Products

Note: These directions are for Mac OS 10.6 "Snow Leopard." If you have OS 10.7 "Mountain Lion," then when you add your Facebook account in the "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" section of your System Preferences, you will have the option to synchronize with your calendar.

You can subscribe to your Facebook Events calendar in iCal so your Facebook Events will show up in iCal and always be synced with your Mac. And if you're using iCloud, you can easily sync those Facebook Events to your iPhone or iPad as well.

Step 1: Find Events

The hardest part is finding where Facebook has hidden the link to export events. Log into Facebook on a web browser, not your mobile app, and visit the Events section (you will find this on the bar on the left side of your newsfeed).

Step 2: Find the Link to Export Events

It will be at the right side of the screen, beneath "Events Happening This Week."
It will be at the right side of the screen, beneath "Events Happening This Week."

On the right side of the screen beneath "Events Happening This Week," you will see a box that reads, "You can add your events to Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, or Apple Calendar." At the bottom of the box are two options: "Upcoming Events" and "Birthdays."

Step 3

This step varies depending on what you want to sync your Facebook Events with—your Apple iCal (by doing this, you can also sync with your iPhone and iPad via iCloud), your Google calendar, or your Outlook calendar. Scroll down to the device your syncing to see the final step.

Syncing with Your iCal on a Mac—Click the Desired Calendar

Hit "Subscribe."
Hit "Subscribe."

Click on the one (either "Upcoming Events" or "Birthdays") that you would like to appear in your calendar. If you are on your Mac, your iCal will pop up immediately. Click "Subscribe."

Be sure to change the iCal calendar "Location" to "iCloud" so that your Facebook calendar will be pushed to your iPhone

If you have an iCloud account, be sure to set the location of the calendar to "iCloud," and your Facebook calendar will also sync with all your iPhone, iPad and all your iCloud-enabled devices.

You'll probably want to change the auto-refresh setting to something more frequent than 1 week, depending on how often you get new Facebook Events.

Syncing with Your Google Calendar—Copy the Link

Right click on a PC or control+click on a Mac in order to copy the link.

Open your Google calendar in a browser window.

Click "Add by URL."
Click "Add by URL."

Find "Other calendars" on the right side of the screen. Click on the arrow to its right, and select the option "Add by URL." Copy and paste in your URL, and you are finished.

Syncing with Outlook—Click the Desired Calendar

Syncing with Outlook is similar to syncing with iCal. Click on the link of the calendar you would like to add to Outlook.

A prompt should appear, reading "Add this Internet Calendar to Outlook and subscribe to updates."

Click "Yes."

Thanks for the instructions - I couldn't find Facebook as an account setting (I'm using 10.7.5) but your instructions still work!

(Correction to my previous mail and your first paragraph) These steps work correctly for 10.7 (Lion) as well - it is 10.8 which first has integrated Facebook integration. Thanks a bunch - I've now made the leap to using iCloud for calendaring thanks to this!

Export your Facebook events with only two clicks:

It will only export events you have answered “Attending” or “Maybe attending” to, thus leaving out those you haven’t responded to or won’t attend – that way you’ll get rid of “spammy” events.

Disclaimer: I’ve tried all the other services online to solve this problem, but they have ceased existing, or are not working well. Therefore I created this service.
